A ladies night out is DEFINITELY needed every once in a while. And… while it’s recommended that women only have 1 alcoholic beverage per day, there is always an exception! On those nights when all you want to do is shake it on the dance floor with your closest friends and down a couple drinks, make sure you know how many calories are in those fruity pink cosmos.
With The Sun’s “Night Out Calorie Calculator” you can see just how much of a dent those drinks are making in your 2,000 calorie daily allowance. Just one pint of beer rings in at 200 calories. About the same as a chocolate bar…wow. If sipping just a few drinks can pack that much of a punch in an otherwise healthy nutrition plan, imagine how drinking everynight could impact your fabulous fit physique!
Don’t tear up yet, you can still have an awesome night out with a few simple tricks:
1.) Check your wine glass size. A glass of wine used to be 125ml (the equivalent to one unit of alcohol), most glasses are now 175ml or even 250ml is size. So while you think your just having one glass, all of a sudden your stumbling in those heels.
2.) Make sure to eat before hitting the town. Alcohol and an empty stomach= hangover! Even a fiberous, protein rich snack is better than nothing. Try, a piece of whole grain toast with peanut butter or grab some trail mix.
3.) Stay away from the chip bowl. Salty foods like chips will make you thirsty, and therefore drink more.
4.) Go for room temperature drinks like red wine. The colder the drink the more likely you are to gulp it down. Sip your drink of choice so it lasts longer.
5.) Get out on the dance floor and burn those extra calories off. Getting your groove on can burn up to 150 calories for every 1/2 hour.
