organic cocktailWith millions of people trying to “green” their lives and eat more organic whole foods, restaurants are taking notice. Now more than ever it’s easier and easier to find vegan and vegetarian restaurants or ones that only use locally grown produce and meats. Well, the health “trend” is now revamping the bar industry.

According to The New York Times mixologists at trendy bars, restaurants and clubs in New York and Los Angeles have begun creating concoctions from organic fruit and vegetable purées and vitamin-filled sports drinks instead of gooey syrups. For example, Django, a midtown New York restaurant, just unveiled the Vitamin DJ: mixed from freshly juiced organic carrots, Granny Smith apple juice, elderflower liqueur and vodka.

Yay! No more of that random drink mix that’s made of who-knows-what. Drinking some fiber and antioxidants with your booze is way better than all that artificial, processed junk. Don’t get too stoked though! Drinking an organic cocktail doesn’t make it guilt-free. Remember there is still alcohol in those drinks. To ward of cancer and other health problems related to alcohol women should stick to no more than 1 drink per day, 2 per day for men.

But, for those times when you do need a ladies night out, look for one of these organic veggie and fruit infused cocktails!
