October has become a great month to take action. The pumpkin carving, costume wearing, month of Fall is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and also Fair Trade Month.
save lids to save lives
With Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes the massive collection of Yoplait yogurt lids in the Save Lids To Save Lives Campaign. It’s time to eat yogurt! Once you finish off the last lick of the creamy goodness from the lid, send off the pink foil to Yoplait. They will donate 10 cents to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, up to $1.5 million. Every lid counts in the fight against breast cancer, so get your spoon ready. To make your lids count make sure to send them in by December 31st.

October has also recently been named Fair Trade Month! Fair Trade is a system of exchange that honors producers, communities, consumers, and the environment. It is a model for the global economy rooted in people to people connections, justice, and sustainability. When you make Fair Trade purchases you are supporting:
fair trade
-Fair prices for products
-Investment in people and communities
-Environmental sustainability
-Empowerment for farmers and artisans
-Empowerment for women
-Direct, long term relationships

Wondering how to buy these planet saving goods? Here are 12 Great Ways To Shop Fair Trade.

Rock your October by supporting these great causes and others. So when your prancing around in your cute, glittery halloween costume pick up a Fair Trade chocolate bar and follow up the next morning with a yogurt.
