The heat is rising. Time to jump in the deep end. Whether you yearn to float among the kelp in emerald rolling waves, shred through chlorine in a fierce water polo match, or escape from Alcatraz, pilates can transform any guppy into a dolphin.
Strength, grace, efficiency, speed, and flexibility epitomize a dolphins effortless style. Take all your swimming endeavors to dolphin status by targeting the deep core and stabilizing muscle groups.
By tapping into your supportive muscle groups, aligning the body, and building that mind/body connection, you can harness their power mid swim. Follow along for three quick pilates mat exercises you can do pre and post splash.
How do you feel?
Vid Quiz: Have your heard or played underwater hockey? Where did I shoot this clip? What gear do underwater hockey players utilize?
Side note and convo: The guys were ridiculously curious why I was “standing on my head on the pool deck.”…
Dude: “what were you doing?!”
Me: “just some pilates mat. You should try!”
Dude: “ya right. That $#*% looks so hard!”
Me: BIG SMILE

Hey Amber – great video. The summertime makes for a great video season, especially for folks like you in Cali and me down in Florida. The underwater hockey sounds intense. Might have to incorporate some into our next pool party. Have a great week!
Thanks Greg! Florida and CA can’t be beat. We are so blessed. Underwater hockey is intense! They just had nationals in Florida a few weeks back. Enjoy your week too and thanks for your support.
Hi Amber,
Thanks for the tips! One move you did reminded me of the Superman exercises we used to do in high school gym class. I never thought they were very effective, but adding in the arm and leg movements seems like it would amp up the intensity to make it a good addition to your workout.
All the best, and keep enjoying the sun!

Haidn- yes yes! The superman swimming is really about strengthening the front and back of body at the same time. Pulling in your abs while working your back in a little extension. The swimming kicking is really vigorous and the quicker you swim the more effective. It sure gets your circulation going!
