Superfood Challenge For Epic Vitality

As I sit infinity pool side here in Ubud, Bali on the second day of my raw yoga retreat, I can’t help but bow down to the power of superfoods. More specifically, super plants! Without their powerful akalinity, minerals, antioxidants, and phytonutrients (vibrant color) my skin wouldn’t glow, I’d have brain fog, and sure wouldn’t be able to stand on my head like above.

I’ve tried just about every super plant food I can get my hands on and incorporate several into my meals everyday. Here are my must haves:

Kale- Didn’t you hear? Kale is the new beef! Massage a raw kale salad with avocado dressing, dehydrate chips, or blend in smoothies.

Seaweed- I’ve written at length on the importance of seaweeds in my free ebook and here. Wrap nori sheet sushi, sprinkle dulse flakes on soups or salads, mix a wakame salad for the week.

Chlorella- chew the tabs or blend the powder into pre and post workout smoothies

Spirulina- chew the tabs or blend the powder into smoothies or salad dressings. Spirulina and chlorella are 60% protein packed, extremely bioavailable (easy to absorb) sea algaes.

Raw cacao (raw chocolate)- eat by itself or create your own raw chocolate snack bites.

Maca- Everyone should include maca in their meals with todays stressful society. Stress makes us hold onto fat. Pair maca with chocolate or blend into smoothies, dressings, or sauces to balance any adrenal fatigue or hormone imbalances.

Coconut Kefir or other probiotic drink like kombucha- drink daily for healthy gut flora. You are what you absorb, not what you eat!

Do you currently eat super foods? Which ones? If not, I challenge you to eat one superfood per day this week and see how you feel!

Over the next six weeks I’ll be challenging you every Monday to try new foods, detox your skin care, and other fun themes. Can you commit to a week of change? I hope so! Practice builds habits and Mondays are scientifically proven to be the best day to set a new habit. Join me in these challenges inspired by AVEENO.

Wow! Great List! Blueberries are one of the “superfoods” I use in my carb backloading protocol. Cacao and Maca have been staples for some time. Though I thank you for informing me that there is a such a thing as Coconut Kefir,,,I will be trying to find that tomorrow.

Don,
You can easily make coconut kefir as well. I just started making my own coconut yogurt using the water, meat and kefir starter. Easy peasy.
