Every area of the world is incredibly unique. Just like one diet or nutrition plan doesn't fit all people, one approach to the obesity crisis won't cover all basis. I try to catch as many TED videos as I can but somehow that one slipped through the cracks. I love Jamie's energy, enthusiasm, passion, and boldness. Obesity is indeed an epic disease. Yet, sadly, as Jamie points out, no one is rushing him on-stage as he reveals the cure. Of course, with a disease like obesity, there isn't a single cure. Each person is different, each family is unique, each community is special. There are fundamental underlying truths and knowledge, of course. People lack education about what is in their food, which is what Jaime is trying to say here. Unfortunately unless you have been to these parts of the US you don't understand the mentality. This country has a disgusting way of pushing junk food on it's patrons and hiding the actual facts about what we are really ingesting. If you've never been obese you don't know what it's like and there for can't judge. I'm sure they aren't happy with their physique, but it's not all about that. It's about how they feel and think as well. When you feel heavy and tired the last thing you want to do is workout, which leads to more sitting around and then emotional eating because of the lack of simple zest and mobility for life.
