Entitlement and ungratefulness are diseases of the mind that have infected our modern day society at large.

Being born in a 1st world country where everything is available and people are programmed to consume breeds an attitude of extreme privilege and ridiculous expectations.

This infection of the mind tells you that nothing is ever good enough.

You are never good enough, the stuff you own is never good enough, your social status is never enough, and the people you meet are never enough.

If you find yourself complaining, criticizing, and harshly judging everything and everyone…

If you wonder why you are so unhappy, depressed, and feel alone despite living in a land of abundance…

Or if you notice time and time again that every situation or experience disappoints you no matter how incredible it is…

It’s time to check in with yourself and get some perspective.

You will never be happy if you are not grateful for what you have and who you are now.

Why? Because your heart is closed to the abundance the Earth provides so freely. You can’t see the beauty in the people and places you visit. Instead, you have a veil of darkness clouding your vision of reality.

You are entitled to nothing.

The fact that you were born into a 1st world country is a massive stroke of luck. One that billions of people will never know.

So, instead of whining about all the little things that don’t matter, it’s time to focus on what is right and how you can use this gift to help others who are not as fortunate.

When you travel to immerse in other cultures and get out of the bubble you were born into, you realize that the happiest people in the world are often the poorest. Why? Because they are grateful and value different things.

So, how do we rewire the mind and release this infectious disease of entitlement and ungratefulness?

By practicing humbleness, compassion, and gratefulness daily.

Write in your journal. Express in writing out loud how grateful you are for all that you are, all that you have, and all the people around you.

Appreciate everything. The dark and the light.

A grateful heart attracts more abundance, love, joy, and magic. Re-wire your mind to awaken your heart and see with new eyes!

I’d love to hear about your journey if you’ve struggled with entitlement and/or ungratefulness. Comment below, but also include a few things you’re grateful for!
