Jumpstyle is an awesome dance style that was developed in Europe a few years back. Recently, “jumpers” and their fast pace, bass thumping moves have gotten airtime on several news channels and gained popularity all over the world.

The dancers jump in various choregraphed sequences to the hard base beats of “jump” music, which is similar to house or techno. It looks to me to be a mix of jump roping (without the rope) and folk dancing or riverdance clogging. Jumpstyle even looks like it could be a distant cousin of Dance Dance Revolution, without the machine of course. I searched high and low for the best videos, and here they are:

If you watched the third season of So You Think You Can Dance you would have seen Jumpstyle and it’s first huge debute in the U.S when a guy self-named The Gold Inferno showed his jumping skills during his audition.
