A recent study released from Manchester Metropolitan University in Britian suggests that moving your eyes horizontally back and forth for 30 seconds improves one’s recall memory. The study tested the ability of participants to recall a list of words after either moving their eyes horizontally, vertically and or not at all. Horizontal eye movement proved to be the winner. Andrew Parker Ph.D., senior lecturer, describes the phenomenon:

“Eye movements may increse hemispheric interaction… the communication between the left and right sides of the brain, which is crucial for recalling a specific event.”

Interesting…very interesting…

In Traditional Chinese Medicine memory is directly linked and effected by the heart. The Chinese medical definition describes the heart as not only a regulator of blood circulation, but also the organ that controls consciousness, spirit, sleep, memory, and houses the mind. The tradition sees the heart beyond the organ and includes the concept- of the heart as a mental/emotional center. Keeping the heart healthy and balanced will in turn keep the memory bright and quick.

I find it really interesting to compare how different cultures view the same issue. Which do you believe?
