It’s Earth Day! How are you going to celebrate? Here on Epic Self and in my life everyday is Earth day. Walking or busing it to the pilates or dance studios, eating local/sustainable whole foods, taking quick showers, and composting are a few of the ways I live green everyday.

But since it’s actually Earth day I lassoed some of the best articles from around the web and my own archives to put you in the greening spirit.
See what you can do today to make a difference for tomorrow! Pick up trash, speak your mind, plant a tree, party at local events…
All the inspirational ideas you need are here.

My fav quote: “We’re past the moment for holiday environmentalism. We’re in the era of nonstop work to transform ourselves into a bright green society before we trigger a planetary collapse. We can still have an amazing future, but not if we only plan for it one day a year.”- Alex Steffen of Worldchanging.com

My fav tip: Turn off the TV and read a book. I recommend these rad reads as a jumping off point.
My fav tip: Build a backyard obstacle course! Even if you don’t have kids, rock this idea with some grown up buddies. Toss a beer or two in and you’ve got a party.

The Best Earth Day Events– via Earth911.com

My fav event: Believe it or not General Motors takes the cake on this global event list. The Chevy Volt was released today. This hybrid uses recycled blue jeans in its car doors to buffer noise and recycled cardboard in its roof to improve acoustics. Even the door handle brackets are made from old carpet. It’s the most efficient of it’s kind clocking in at 2,520 kilowatts per hour of energy, which is less than a central air conditioning unit, a water heater and a refrigerator. Killer work GM!
