Pilates Mat Challenge DAY 6

Did you practice today? Even though I spent most of my day hiking through the rainforest I hit my mat for a little Roll Over and Control Balance for my ‪#‎PilatesEveryDamnDay challenge. Day 6 is here! Won’t you join me?

1.) Begin on your back with legs straight up to the sky. Arms pressing into the mat. Shoulders down. Inhale to prep, exhale to engage your abs and float up and over to balance on your shoulder blades.

2.) Inhale flex your feet, open your legs the width of your shoulders. Exhale to slowly slowly roll down vertebrae by vertebrae.

3.) Repeat Roll Over five times and then hold your position at the top to balance on your upper back. Raise your arms up overhead to hold onto one ankle. Make sure your toes can touch the ground. Then reach the other leg to the sky.

4.) Inhale to slowly switch sides mid air. Keep your hips square and lifted up away from your ribs. Engage your core to lift and stabilize your center as you switch legs five times. This switching is called Control Balance.

For more challenge: Begin with your arms overhead pressing into the ground along side your ears for Roll Over reps.

Beginners Tip: if you can’t touch your toes to the floor overhead just continue to practice Roll Over. Do not try Control Balance until you master Roll Over.

Remember, I am here to help. Feel free to ask questions. I want you to feel the power of pilates in your own body. You’ll find yourself in a solid daily practice in no time!
