It’s been 40 years. Nearly half a century since Title IX for women’s equality in education and sports was passed into legislation. Today we must celebrate how far we’ve come ladies!

This special 40th anniversary got me thinking. How has Title IX impacted our lives and future evolution as super women?
Personally, education has been a life long passion of mine. I’m forever a humble and eager student of all that’s new and old. I can’t imagine a reality where I didn’t have access to information or couldn’t play soccer with the big boys. Heck, I have a hard time remembering what it was like to exist without a computer, google or a cell phone.

I’m forever grateful for the outspoken women in history who refused to stand for less and demanded equality. I would have been with them on the front lines.
And while we celebrate 40 years of equality in the US, I can’t help but chat about technology and it’s drastic impact on equality world wide.

We turn on a phone or flip open a lap top and BAM! We are inundated with endless streams of free information from all over the globe. We are living in phenomenal times folks! A time when there are no barriers. When women in Egypt can witness the freedom of others and decide it’s about time they take a stand for ultimate change. How exciting!

Part of my fascination with the internet is it’s shear power. Social power and influence for massive positive change. For example, right now I sit typing in Denver Colorado at a Health and Fitness Blogger Conference full of incredibly articulate, fun, fit and powerful mainly female educators and leaders of today. We are convening at this state of the art university and wellness center to learn from world leading experts on how we can make an impact in this countries epidemic health crisis.

That’s right! Bloggers are powerful! We have mega voices, large audiences, and influence. We intend to help in every way possible.
The girls growing up in America will never have to struggle for an education, but they can help spread the word and hand to those who do. They can use their presence in social media and blogging to impact girls on the other side of the world.

The internet has given us more power and we must capitalize.
As consciousness builds and the world becomes more and more connected there’s no turning back. I can’t wait to see what happens! All I ask of you fabulous ladies today is to spread the word and celebrate. Take this brief moment to send out a message to your networks of women. We have rights others would give their left leg for. Don’t take it for granted, use your knowledge to make someones day and life brighter. It’s still in our hands. The guantlet has been passed, it’s just taken a different form.

How has Title IX impacted your life? How can we work together to make sure other women gain our freedom? How are you using your voice?
