The mid afternoon crash is common for the majority of the population.  Often times people reach for a sugary snack or coffee for that energy pick me up. But whatever you do put down the sugar and coffee. Sugar is incredibly addicting and studies show that it is more addicting then cocaine. Now if your like me, I love coffee.  From the aroma , to the taste  to the entire experience of drinking coffee is something that I enjoy daily.  However, drinking coffee does have its consequences. Coffee contains caffeine and caffeine has tremendous side effects such as insomnia, irritability, anxiety, agitation just to name a few.  I have noticed lately that coffee has been causing these side effects and I have opted to take it out of my diet.

The mid afternoon crash and cravings for something sweet came over me today. To increase my energy and kick my craving to the curb, I decided to indulge in one of my favourite treats that increases my energy and doesn’t cause an energy crash. Let me introduce you to my Chia Avocado Cacao Parfait. This parfait is loaded with my favourite superfood Cacao Powder. Cacao Powder comes from Cacao beans which is the natural form of chocolate. If you are like me eating chocolate makes me happy. It not only tastes great but on a biological level  makes you happy! Eating chocolate naturally releases neurotransmitters in the body that promotes happiness! It also contains high amounts of vitamins and minerals and is a natural source of caffeine which can improve mental alertness . No wonder why this is called a superfood! Chia seeds are another superfood that are packed with omega 3, fibre and protein. They reduce cravings and help keep you fuller longer. Soaking the chia seeds prior to use allows your body to better absorb the nutrients. To make this recipe you will need:
